Chief Accountant

An international company operating in the chemicals sector is currently looking for a Chief Accountant to strengthen its finance team.

This position is based in Diegem and you will report to the Head of Finance & Accounting.

Your main responsibilities as a Chief Accountant will be:

Oversee the daily activities of the accounting department, including:

• Closing processes for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end
• Management of routine accounting tasks
• Operating expense analysis and budget variance analysis
• General ledger reconciliation
• Monitoring production control, such as purchase price variances
• Updating the fixed asset register and handling depreciation
• Managing monthly accruals and provisions

• Develop the annual budget, forecast, and mid-term plan
• Coordinating the preparation of statutory accounts and tax returns
• Implement and enforce appropriate accounting methods, policies, and principles

About you:

• You have a bachelor's degree in accountancy
• You have 10 years' previous experience and proven track record as an A-Z accountant or in a senior accounting role
• You are fluent in Dutch and have a good knowledge of French and English
• You are analytical and have strong problem-solving skills
