Accounting Manager

SW Services is looking for an Accounting Manager (M/F/X) for one of their clients located in Mont-Saint-Guibert.


Our client is an international and publicly traded company in Life Sciences sector, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead the accounting team as the Head of Accounting.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: Oversee financial statement preparation in line with GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory standards. Manage balance sheet reconciliation, statutory accounts, VAT, tax, and grants with the Walloon Region. Act as the main contact with our accounting providers. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reports.

SOX: Implement and uphold robust accounting controls to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements. Ensure the accounting team executes SOX controls promptly and review their documentation in line with PCAOB standards. Work closely with the internal control team and manage internal and external audits. Coordinate efforts to address any identified deficiencies in collaboration with the internal control team.

ERP & accounting: In your role you will be fully responsible for the set up and the improvement of the accounting processes. Seeking opportunities for automation and continuous improvements while leveraging from the functionalities of our current ERP package Microsoft Dynamics D⚠ Finance & Operations.

People Management: Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and training as needed. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment and work out the development plans for each of the accountants.

Entrepreneurial mindset-self-starter: The role combines financial management with an entrepreneurial mindset. It involves strategic thinking, identifying opportunities, and driving overall growth. It contributes to the company's entrepreneurial spirit and success.

Stakeholder: Effectively communicate with stakeholders, including management, auditors, and regulators.

HMPH Connect: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned, contributing financial expertise and leadership to cross-functional teams.


Qualifications needed for this position

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Extensive experience in accounting, with a minimum of ⚠ years in a leadership role, in an international and publicly traded company.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing accounting teams and driving process improvements.
  • Experience with having lead teams through transformational change.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders. Maintain a positive image of the accounting department internally and externally.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office suite; experience with main ERP systems preferred.
  • English (main company language)/ French (interaction with Tax administration)/ Dutch
  • Self-learner: Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry.
